Motorcycle Accidents in Ohio
Each year, over 75,000 people are injured in automobile accidents throughout the state of Ohio. We often witness the overwhelming consequences that victims in car and truck accidents are forced to endure. Although we can be proactive to protect others while driving on the roadways, there is no guarantee that other motorists are going to take our safety into consideration. In fact, the majority of accidents are caused by the negligent actions of motorists. According to reports published by the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), more than 3,800 motorcycle accidents take place throughout our state each year. These accidents claim the lives of more than 150 people annually while leaving over 3,100 more injured. Although there are many instances where motorcycle accidents leave victims with minor injuries, thousands of people are hospitalized with debilitating injuries caused by their crashes.
Many injured motorcyclists are rushed to local hospitals for emergency treatment for spinal cord injuries, broken bones, and brain injuries resulting from their crashes. Although helmets are effective in saving lives, we continue to see riders who fail to utilize them while out on our roads. In numerous instances, riders are left with injuries that leave them permanently impaired and unable to return to work. Rather than enjoying activities and performing tasks with ease, they are left with pain and suffering that impact their mental, physical, and financial health and wellbeing. The time immediately following a crash can be extremely overwhelming. This is especially true for victims who are left with tens of thousands of dollars in medical costs for their injuries while being unable to return to work. Rather than move forward alone after an accident, victims should reach out to a motorcycle accident attorney in Cleveland to explore legal options available to them. Those harmed by others may be entitled to compensation to help alleviate the financial burdens they face moving forward.
