Aurora, OH (October 10, 2020) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Portage County claimed one man’s life on Friday morning. On October 9, Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a crash on Ohio State Route 43.

Reports show that 20-year-old Jesse Haley was driving a 2004 Honda Accord south on Ohio State Route 43 when his vehicle collided with a 2020 Freightliner box truck, which was driven by a 53-year-old man. The impact of the collision caused Haley’s vehicle to travel left into the northbound lanes of the highway. Haley’s vehicle proceeded forward and crashed head-on into a 2015 Ford F-250, which was driven by a 45-year-old man. The impact of the crash sent both Haley’s vehicle and the Ford off the east side of the road. Haley’s vehicle overturned and came to rest on its passenger side.

Crews with the Aurora Fire Department, Aurora Fire Department, Aurora Police Department, Aurora Street Department, Bainbridge Twp. Fire Department, and F&S Towing all responded to the site of the collision to assist.

The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries in the collision. Haley was fatally injured in the crash. Authorities arrived at the scene and declared the man deceased. At this time, investigations surrounding the crash are underway.

Our thoughts are with the victim injured in this accident.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Jesse Haley at this time.
